Cafe O Clay
Today I found something that motivated me to find something exciting to try today. I feel like we just keep doing the same things each day, but I am ready to see new things so time to start planning.
"God will only promote us as high as our character will take us!"
My character had been struggling lately so time to buck up and get to exploring! I first found the AWA (American Women of Aberdeen) on facebook and joined their group. This was instant information overload. I can't begin to explain what a blessing this was for me. I found a website that had all of the questions on it that I was asking as well as answers to some of the crazy questions that I was scared to ask. So I began to check their website all day and then another prayer answered. They have a Mom's Night next Wednesday night and wanted to invite all new members to join them. Even though it was raining, I saw nothing but a bright light today! I so hope that when our MOPS moms got their first evite to MOPS that they felt as welcomed and wanted as I do today!
It is amazing how once you put your mind into a positive place, GREAT things can happen. So I then got online and found the Cafe O Clay so we could go and paint something fun today. Now this place was pretty far for little Denman, but I was determined to make it happen.
We went to the mall first to find some long sleeve shirts because it was really getting colder here, and we are still limited on clothes. Denman found the dinosaur ride and pretended to ride on it because a pound a ride was just too much for me!
He loved the rhino the best!
So now we have our long sleeve shirts, time to find a place for lunch. We decided to take a new route to the Union Square just to see what we see. OH MY!!! Talk about finding a JACKPOT!!! We found McDonalds. We seriously almost got hit by a bicycle man trying to make it there. I think I know where Denman gets his picky eating from...ME!!! Oh my this food change was KILLING me. I want you to really think about how much you eat Mexican food during your week and then imagine it taken completely OUT!!! It has been pure torture. I can't even find good tortillas to hold me over until I can find some cheese that tastes even a little like US cheese. So McDonalds was like GOLD and CHEAP!
Check out those smiles!
You honestly would have thought we were in an amusement park because of how excited the kiddos were. They were sooo pumped that they had nuggets, coke, and ice cream...SCORE!!! They didn't even care that they didn't have a play place. They were all about the food and SO WAS I!!! Now, I tell you it all works out for a reason. When we got our happy meal, their excitement jumped up about ten notches because they had ICE AGE TOYS!! Oh my goodness, we had to take Denman to the bathroom because he was soo excited. Thank you sweet LORD for your little winks during the day!
Now I could to take on this three mile walk or should I say "stroll" to Cafe O Clay. I get out my map on my phone and mark our place as to where we need to go because Natalie has become quite the navigator these days. We made many stops along the way, but we eventually found our way to the pottery place.
This was the cutest place. It had pottery painting, sandwiches, desserts, coffee, and MILKSHAKES! We first took about an hour to pick out what we all would paint. We set up our table and got busy. I don't think I have felt that kind of peace in a long time. For a minute I felt like I was in The Woodlands at All About Crafts painting some pottery.... but no one I knew ever walked in. :(
I found a quote that helps me during the times when the loneliness sets in...
"Though time and miles may separate us, I have built a bridge of priceless
memories to make up the distance!"
Natalie made a sweet turtle!
I finally found out what I could paint!
It was so fun to watch them at work and putting their whole hearts into it. I was so glad they were having as much fun as I was. It took me forever to figure out what I would make. I then thought about Rusty and how he goes to work every day while we get to plan out our day minute by minute. I asked the kids what we could make for him and Denman said, "A medal of course!" How cute is that? So we made a medal to let him know how much we love and appreciate the work he does every day. He has been so supportive and understanding with my crazy moods and random sadness so I think this might let him see how much we appreciate him.
Then of course we HAD to get a chocolate milkshake before we left because they just looked WAY too good. :) BTW.... I didn't get a single drink!!!
They were trying to see who could drink it faster. :)
After the pottery place, we headed back to the hotel. Denman was just about DONE so we needed to start the "stroll" back. As we began to walk back, we stopped at a couple of places to get some pictures because,Denman this time, wanted to remember this spot.
This was a great rest spot for a picture!
I had to take a picture of this church.
I can't explain how beautiful these buildings are, especially the churches.
After this VERY long walk back, I decided... It is time to find a stroller for HOMEBOY!!! Oh my, my positive attitude was ALMOST lost!!! So we got on-line and started a search. We already tried the malls, but I wanted to see if I could find a used one for cheaper. We found a place on-line where people sell used items. ANOTHER SCORE!! Now if we can just find where they live so we can go and get it. :)
Now that I know what a day is like when you keep it positive and uplifting, I hope to have many more days ahead exactly the same. It is NOT easy to keep your spirits up and heart happy. I found out that when you skip reading THE BIBLE, it makes it WAY worse! I don't have much time right now to really get into a bible study, but I have all the time in the world to catch the verses that God is showing me daily and using them.
I have a song for you today that makes me smile NO MATTER WHAT!!!
Its Francesca Battistelli "This is the stuff" LOVE IT!
Miss you MOPS MOMMAS! (It is on your CD)
