Denman's First Day of School!

Denman's First Day of School!

I am so proud of this sweet boy!  We got up for his first day of school and he was very excited.  I told him I wanted him to dress up for the first day, but he could wear fun clothes the rest of the week.  It took us a few tries to find a shirt that would go over his cast, but we found the perfect shirt.

We went school shopping the weekend before the big day and finally found some jeans that he LOVES!  They are colored jeans, but he said they are WAY better than those cowboy ones.  That just makes me laugh because he thinks all blue jeans are cowboy jeans.  He can call them whatever he wants as long as he will just wear them!!!

We got all ready, packed their lunches and then loaded up in the car.  I was sooo nervous!  He was NOT nervous at all!  I knew he was either going to walk right in and love it or drop into fetal position and cry.  I prayed all night and all morning!  I had a coffee date planned because I knew an empty house would DO ME IN!!!

Before we left the house, I of course made him smile for a picture.
That was the best smile I could get. :)

We then loaded up the car to go to school.  If I could have my phone while I drive here I would have recorded the precious conversation that Natalie and Denman had on the way to school.  Natalie was telling him not to be worried because he was going to meet a class full of new friends.  She told him, "Now if it rains we just need to put on our coats and boots and we will go out anyway."  Denman listened to her every word and would say, "Ok Natalie."  It was the sweetest pep talk I have ever heard.

Denman started walking and wanted to carry everything by himself.
He is growing up WAY too fast for me!

I love how proud Natalie is of him in this picture.  She would walk ahead and then wait on him
when he would need to catch up.

She is telling him here about the playground and bus stop that we pass
before we go into the building.  She said, "You must be VERY careful
crossing the road here because the buses might not see you.  No worries, I'll be walking him in every day!

Denman kept looking back saying... Come on MOMMA!!!
And I was doing my best to not cry!  I can't tell you how proud I am of these two.
The strength, courage, and love that they have shown toward each other during this move brings tears to my eyes daily!

I could tell once we got inside it hit Denman that he was really going in all day.  He asked me what I packed for his lunch and what time I would pick him up.  I let him open his lunch and check it out and then told him that I would be back at 2 and that Natalie would be right across the hall.  And then began to pray again that he would have a good day.

As we walked down the hall, he grabbed on to my hand so hard.  He was still leading the way but I could tell he was beginning to have a few doubts.  Right before we walked in we ran into a little girl named Gabbi that we met at the gym this summer.  Denman didn't say Hi or anything to her, but he did continue to walk forward when the doors opened.

I love that God continues to put little signs in our days to let us know we are right where we are suppose to be.  Those little signs get me through so many scary moments.

He walked over to hang up his lunch box and backpack all by himself of course.  You would NEVER know that he broke his arm a week ago.  He is using it to do everything!

After all of his things were put away and I got one last hug, he walked over to the castles with the knights to play.  I was super proud.  He had a smile on his face and went right up to Mrs. Karen.  I took a quick picture and then headed out before he changed his mood.

This is Denman with Mrs. Karen who is the sweetest teacher EVER!  I am soo grateful for the amazing teachers that teach at their school.  Each teacher is there to make the students feel welcome and comfortable.  It was so amazing how almost every teacher that we met over the last week knew all of our names when they saw us.  We are so blessed to be in such a great school.

So I then headed to Renee's house for coffee and to find out how we could spend our day to keep our minds off of our kiddos.  I couldn't wait to hear all about his first day.  You know it is a good first day when you leave your babies with a smile and pick them up with the same smile. :)

This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
