Denman's first field trip

Denman's First Field Trip

Denman had his first field trip this month.  Oh he was pumped!  He talked about it all week.  I was so grateful that the field trip was on Wednesday.  We were heading to Foggington Forest.  It is a forest that is really close to our house and we were going to get to ride a bus from school to get there.

It was FREEZING!!!!!  I had to bundle up because I knew we would be outside for at least two hours.  BRRR!!

When I got to school, this was the smile that I saw.  It warms my heart when I see this precious face.  Denman talks about Texas all the time.  I can tell that he really misses it.  So when I see this smile come out, I truly have to fight off tears.  It is the days like this one that keep me going and pushing on.

Denman had on three layers of clothes and a grin that I will remember forever!

He loved that he got to the window seat before me.

We are now on a nature trail to see what all we can see.  Aquila and Denman found a log to ride. :)

We also found a dead tree that they said was at least 100 years old.  It was laying down so of course all the kids climbed up on top of the tree to see how far they could walk before slipping off.

He LOVED LOVED hanging on this branch.  We had to go back at the end so he could do it again.

We stopped halfway our nature hike to eat a snack and make a clay animal.  Can we say COLD!!  I think my hands were FROZEN in this picture.

Denman made a bat and then put and stick in the back of him to make it look like he was flying.

He had to climb every rock that had moss on it and can I just tell you EVERY big rock had moss on it.

It was such a great day.  He has the most AMAZING teachers that do whatever it takes to create a learning environment for them.  It really makes me want to teach again.  The light came out in Denman during this field trip and it just made my day!

I love this little man!!!!  I see MANY more nature walks in our near future!
